Here is Our Story

S.Decker Consulting, LLC was founded to focus on performance coaching after hearing similar concerns from professionals and their teams about all-too-common challenges that interfere with collaboration, leadership, and ultimately performance.

While helping individuals and teams, we have realized the possibilities that arise from performance coaching to trigger the transformative journey that leverages effective high-functioning, collaborative teams and authentic, inspiring leaders.

Moving from “good” to “great” takes effort, persistence, insights, and an actionable plan. Therefore, we have developed our performance coaching approach to help leaders and teams raise the bar. We help them create a common approach that reinforces collaboration, helps them break down paradigms, and maintains work cultures where the human aspect does not interfere with collective and individual performance.

Based on real-life professional experiences, we know how organizations and humans function, how challenges can interfere with life at work, and how their strengths, aspirations, and conflicts can impact their roles.

About Our Founder

Stephen is an inspiring and engaging leadership consultant with expertise in talent development, leading large teams (>5,000 employees), optimizing multi-site contact center operations, navigating complex matrix organizations, and planning and executing strategic planning. 

Stephen brings over twenty-five years of leadership experience, including Executive level roles at multiple companies. He has worked in both mid-sized and large organizations. His most recent role was with Anthem, Inc. 

He served as Vice President, Service Experience supporting both the Government and Commercial business units. Prior experience includes finance, project management, client management, healthcare IT, and talent acquisition while working for several Fortune 100 companies, including Wells Fargo, Capital One, and Cigna.

Stephen has the innate ability to connect with people at all levels of an organization deeply and is known for working collaboratively, with integrity, and leading from the heart to achieve results.   He works with organizations and individuals to develop future executive leaders with a passion for coaching high potential rising stars as they work through the complexities of increasing levels of responsibility.

A Certified Professional Coach, he completed formal training with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (an accredited program by the International Coaching Federation). He creates a safe space to work through challenging problems and leverages a wide range of tools and techniques that empower individuals to move forward and achieve maximum results both professionally and personally.

He is known for being approachable and trustworthy and has a “straight shooter” style that helps others challenge traditional thinking and limiting beliefs. Specialties include coaching for successful transitions into new or higher-level roles, effective communication for influence, leading in large matrix environments, career management and personal growth, and emotional intelligence.
